The Strategy Lab: the strategy's source on the left, its net profit, five key figures and the equity curve on the right.

One strategy, four languages

const trend = ta.ema(close, trendLen);
const rsi   = ta.rsi(close, rsiLen);
const atr   = ta.atr(atrLen);

const inUptrend  = trend > 0 && close > trend;
const pulledBack = rsi < rsiDip;
const turningUp  = close > hist(close, 1);

if (inUptrend && pulledBack && turningUp && atr > 0) {
  strategy.long({ stop: close - stopAtr * atr, trail: trailAtr });
}

The entry rule from the Lab's example. All four versions produce exactly the same trades.

How a backtest is priced

Orders fill at the open of the next bar, so a strategy can never act on a price it hasn't seen yet.

Every position needs a stop, and its size comes from the distance to that stop. If one bar touches both the stop and the target, the stop is the one that counts.

Costs are switched on from the start, and changing one re-prices the whole record straight away.

About

What Quanthetic is

A free place to study the markets and test trading ideas. Charts is a full charting app, and the Strategy Lab backtests a strategy you write. Both run in your browser.

Your data

There are no accounts. Your strategies, drawings and backtest history stay in your own browser and are never sent to us. No ads, no tracking. The Privacy Policy has the details.

Philosophy

A backtest is easy to make look good: fill orders at prices nobody could have had, skip the spread, try forty versions and keep the best. Quanthetic is built so that none of that happens by accident.

The maker

AdarshXD (Adarsh Rao)

Quanthetic was built by one person. The engine, the charts, every indicator and drawing tool, and this page were designed and written without a team. It started as a way to test my own ideas properly and grew into what you're using now.

Built and presented to you by AdarshXD.
